Whether you are beloved, adoring, given tough love, admired from afar, waiting waiting waaaaaaiting, blissed out, feeling the pangs, confused, hopelessly devoted, regretful, enamoured, hopeful, content or heartbroken, a toast to thee on this holiday brought to you by those who revel in modern day commercialism and an obscure martyred saint.
I choo-choo-choose love.

Hi Nelu,
Great blog! I agree that pretty much all of our North American holidays have become way too commercial. It’s sometimes nice to have an excuse for family, friends, and loved ones to get together. But is an excuse really good enough to form meaningful connections? Shouldn’t we all just be doing nice things every day?
The commercial piece makes holidays more of an excuse to transact, than connect. Someone will buy dinner. The other will buy flowers. And before you know it…
My lovely girlfriend and I, including millions of North Americans, are still conditioned. We said “Happy V-Day” and we’ll be doing dinner this Saturday! A great Portuguese restaurant on College and Dovercourt. I think I’ll have the fish and a Rose wine. No cards or flowers, though. That would just be silly!
Anyways, Happy Valentines Day!
